Practical writing is one kind of writ with practical value and idiomatic format, which is used in party and government organs, enterprises and institutions and social organizations, as well as the masses hand official business ,personal affairs and communication in their daily life, production and study. With the development of society, practical writing has an inseparable relationship with people's life and work and practical writing ability has become a basic social skills and an important means of interpersonal communication. The thesis teaching, plays an important position in the basic education. As one part of the writing teaching, practical writing comes into people's view gradually. The high school stage values the teaching of pratical writing, which not only embodies the nature of the language discipline, adapts society's development, but also meets the students' needs of lifelong learning.However, the teaching status of practical writing in high school stage is not satisfactory. The composition training is mainly narration and argumentation, which is to meet the goal of exam-oriented education. On the other hand, the daily training of high school students is their ability to express, and the practical writing is almost ignored. The key researching point of this paper, through making a survey and analysis for the status of high school students' practical writing to find the corresponding countermeasures, is to make people to pay more attention to the teaching of practical writing in high school, so as to improve the students' writing ability.The author selects students as study objects on practical writing situation. These students are from Henan Normal University Affiliated High School, known as Henan window school. The study focuses on teachers'and students'attitude towards the writing, the writing contents, teaching course and teaching materials. The study suggests that the situation is very concerning. According to a questionnaire, even had learned the practical writing for 3 years from 7 to 9 grades, the senior high school students still know less about it. Due to unclear guide by the teaching material, students have main problems in practical reading and writing. Thus the teaching achievement is not good. There are three reasons: first, the education concept has been materialized. Teachers won't like to teach the practical writing for the interest of examinations. They pay less attention to stuffs which have nothing to do with examinations. Second, different standards in literature style cause the reading varieties. In teaching, teachers classify the texts into narration, argumentation, essay, prose, poetry and classical; they are so confused that both teachers and students should ignore the status and role of Practical; last, effected by the reality of teachers, students, social and environmental factors, the attitude of teachers emphasis on guidance, student interests and habits result in today's low status of teaching practical writing.For the above, the author argues that we must first clear the necessity of teaching practical writings in high school, it not only conforms to the requirements of new curriculum in high school, but also the need of lifelong learning and social development. In aspect of teaching strategies, the author offered following proposal based on his own knowledge and practice experience: first, whether teaching or learning, both teacher and students should be concerned about social life. Life provides the source material for writing. So writing far away from life will be like water without source and trees without roots, thus Writing will lose its authenticity, finally to be a bad article; Secondly, in the specific teaching, teachers should mobilize the students'enthusiasm so that students will learn actively. interest is the best teacher, and the characteristics of practical writing itself requires teachers to trigger students'interest and makes the process funny; final during teaching evaluation, teachers should encourage students and help students to recognize their problems in Practical Writing to improve writing skills through a variety of evaluation.In a word, this paper is written for investigation and analysis on situation of practical writings in high school. Hopefully it will help teachers and the improvement of the writing skills.
