When teaching solid geometry, many teachers find differences between boys and girls. Scholars from both home and abroad have done a lot of research about the gender differences on math study and the ability of space imagination. However, few step into the area of senior students. Therefore, this article aims to further understand the gender difference of senior students on the ability of space imagination by studying documents, observing, interviewing and doing questionnaires.First I did some analysis on the concept, factors and development level on the ability of space imagination. Combined with current situation and research findings from both home and abroad, I set up some practical research program and interview content. In order to know the development differences of senior students on the ability of space imagination, I also work out several questionnaires based on the different factors and development level of the ability of space imagination.Next, I made some qualitative analysis on interview content and quantitative analysis on questionnaires. Subjective survey shows that girls are a little inferior to boys on the ability of space imagination. As to where the differences are, different people have different opinions. Objective survey shows on high level of the space imagination and demanding cognitive tasks, boys are significantly better than girls. Finally, according to the conclusion of the survey, I made some analysis from the angle of physical, psychological and cognitive structure. Together with the current new curriculum reform on solid geometry, I made some suggestion on the development level of the ability of space imagination. Therefore, boys and girls can both reach the top level.
