With the rapid and extensive social development in China,vocational education has gained unprecedented development. Meanwhile,the new situations are setting a still higher demand on the quality of technical talents graduated from higher vocational college,especially on their English skills. The English skills of technical talents are related to the application of advanced technology both directly and indirectly. English is one of the widely used languages. But the current English competence is not satisfactory in our vocational school,especially so with the English writing competence. In order to accord with the change and development of social demand and to raise students' competitiveness,it is necessary for us to reform and improve the English writing teaching .Process Approach aims at enhancing teacher-student interaction,developing learning interests and motivation,and promoting students' overall development. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of process approach on English writing classes of vocational schools.In the research the subjects (n=87) were in two classes: Class A (the Experimental Group) and Class B (the Control Group). The process approach is applied to Class A in English writing classes while Class B is the control class sticking with the traditional way. Our experiment lasted one semester , during which the author carried out the questionnaires,the pretest and the post-test.The experiment concluded with the facts that the students in the Experimental Group enhanced their writing ability and show more efficiency in writing. The study also indicates that process approach can significantly improve students,writing grades.
