In the first year of high school, some freshmen often have a sensation of mathematics becoming difficult, so that some of them couldn't adjust to the mathematics learning, and make very poor marks. The investigation of modern psychology shows both intellectual factors and non-intellectual factors together help the students to achieve good A-level results in mathematics of High School, thereinto the effect of intellectual factors is only 20%, and the else is due to non-intellectual factors. With the similar intellectual level, the students who could get good grade in the maths often possess the better non-intellectual character, for example interest, habit, etc. However, the non-intellectual factor education on students always is ignored in the teaching of High School. Moreover, the systemic theory has not been established. Therefore, the investigation on the non-intellectual characters of students in the High School education is of important realistic meaning, which could help the students to get better grade, especially for those poor students. In this paper, origination, concepts and development of non-intellectual factors are introduced, and then the investigation about the effect of the non-intellectual factors, interest and habit, on the mathematics studying in the Jiading first High School of Shanghai is discussed.Questionnaire survey, analysis of cases and statistical analysis of quantitative data have been used to study the present situation and effect of non-intellectual characters of freshmen in the Jiading first High School. The collected raw data is studied by the Excel 65SQ statistical software。Firstly, a survey on the non-intellectual characters of student has been performed, especially on interest, habit etc. Then, some teaching methods to improve the non-intellectual characters of students are discussed. Based the survey and analysis of non-intellectual factors, some education meanings have been performed in the mathematics teaching work, and some good results are obtained. At last, some teaching method suggestions are provided to improve the students'non-intellectual characters, especially for the interest and habit training.
