Objective:To know the health, nutrition and common diseases status of elementary school students in Canglang areas of Suzhou City, and to provide scientific evidence for disease control and prevention.Methods:With the methods of cluster sampling, 14380 elementary school students from 24 primary schools were investigated in Canglang areas of Suzhou City in 2009. This survey includes myopia, malnutrition, obesity, caries and etc. Various information are analyzed and compared on gender and age. The nutrition state was evaluated with height standard weight method, which was designed to evaluate child and adolescent physical developmentResults:In 14380 medical students, primary school students' the detection rate of height superiority, inferiority were 10.9% and 9.2%, the difference was not statistically significant, overall development situation is good. The detection rate 0f classy and inferior Weight were 9.9% and 7.5%, in age and sex, both have significant differences. The detection rate of pupils malnutrition, overweight, obesitywere 5.7%, 18.0%, 59.9%, and the boys' obesity rate was significantly higher than the girls'. Common diseases, the rates of dental cavity was highest (56.42%), poor eyesight, flatfoot, tonsillitis and heart disease is 54%, 6.81%, 3.41%, 0.38%, chlamydia trachomatis and intestinal tapeworm each see in 1.Conclusions:1. Different sex, the detection rate of weight superiority and inferiority are statistically significant differences, boys' is higher than girls'. Different age, superiority, inferiority detection rate of both height and weight are statistically significant.2. Malnutrition rate is no difference among all age groups, but have differences in gender . Pupils obesity rate is different among all age groups, the boy obesity rate is higher than girls'. And compare with the same survey results , and obesity detection rate is higher.3. pupil detection rate of poor vision with age is increasing year by year, at the same time, the girls' detection rate of poor vision is higher than that of male students.4. Caries prevalence pupils rises with age year by year, dental caries prevalence rate between boys and girls is no statistically differences..
