An Aging population is an important social problem now. Meanwhile, it is also one of the major features on human development. It is unprecedented that large-scale aging population comes quickly in China. The development of Aged Education is significant for both the development of the country and the development of elders own. Since the emergence of elderly university, it is benefit for elderly to gain new knowledge and need, and it also solved the social problems of elderly.This paper will use document analysis. The author accounts for the history of two modes in generation and evolution, also for the generation and development in third aging university in UK by using historical analysis. The third age university will be analyzed more particularly by using case analysis. Finally the author summed up the characteristics of the third age university in UK, and also the reflection in order to provide reference advices on future development of elderly education in China.The paper is divided into four parts. The Introduction part consists of subject mentioned, the research significance, current situation at home and abroad, and the definitions on the third age education and elderly education. Elderly education institutions in Britain were introduced in Chapter One. They are elderly education of higher education institutions, education institutions which local government provided, education institutions which continue education provided, education institutions which voluntary organizations provided. In Chapter Two, it mainly explains the origin of the third age university, the development stage, goals and principles, concrete implementation for the third age university in Britain. Chapter Three explains the case studies. The Wells third age university and Allen third age university in British are chosen as the objects for the case study. They explained the case studies from many aspects of financial, faculty, activities, course, etc. The last chapter, it comes up with seven characteristics of the third age university in Britain which based on the explanations of the third age university in Britain. The seven characteristics are: the diversification of elderly education institutions, the combination of education and well-being for elderly, the subjectivity which administration and teaching reflected on the third age university in Britain, the low charge which the funding sources mainly comes from party dues, the alienation from the third age university in Britain to modern university and the central or local government, and the emphasis are not on high academic standard. And also the author reflected and proposed the suggestion for the existing problems in the development of elder university。...
