The Survey On University Students' Consciousness In Mathematical Application

The application of mathematics has been already deserved more attentions than before in new era, our century is calling for application of mathematics. The mathematics consciousness plays an important role in the area of application of mathematics which has drawn wide interest. New curriculum standard of new curriculum reform in our nation has stated that development of students'consciousness is a very significant aspect in the overall purposes.Teachers are the organizers of teaching activities. Mathematical teachers'consciousness and competence are directly related to development of students'the mathematics application consciousness. Therefore, strengthening and increasing university teachers and students'application consciousness is very necessary.The author chose college students whose majors are application mathematics of a normal university in Jinlin province as the subjects of the study. The questionnaire and test of mathematics application consciousness were used to investigate the present situation of university teachers and student's application consciousness.The results of study shows that university teachers and students are poor in application consciousness, the author analyzed the reasons from three aspects: mathematics curriculum, mathematical teaching and evaluating system. As to the existent problems, the author proposed some suggestions on mathematics application consciousness of university teachers and students.
