Outside reading is an important part of Chinese courses and is also an important way for students to study and practice the language. Reading can highlight the dominant position of students and impel them to acquire a deep spiritual experience in an independent and creative way of reading. Effectively carrying out outside reading is very significant to broaden the field of language learning enhance the studying practice and fully achieve goals of Chinese course. Outside reading conditions of senior pupils and status are analyzed according to the documents and questionnaire survey from the perspective of the status and significance of after class reading in Chinese course and the need of pupils.After class reading is examined in the new standard of the Chinese course. Rational proposals are described based on the questionnaire survey and analysis of teaching case.Outside reading status of pupils is researched in the way of questionnaire and interview from the aspect of pupils, teachers and parents taking the XX elementary school in Changchun. From the results, pupils, teachers and parents attach importance to after class reading. Pupils have a strong motivation to read. The development of after school reading has a tendency of autonomy and diversity. Some deficiencies are discovered in the survey such as lack of weight in school teaching, optional reading. It needs guiding and helping by teachers in the aspects of interest, method and material. Good reading habits needs to be cultivated. To these questions, reading ambiance is created to inspire the students according to the teaching practice of the author. Reading evaluation recognition and method are modulated. The communicating platform among school teachers and families is established to enhance the reading and comprehending abilities. The collective reading ability of pupils is promoted.
