In today’s era of information network, the network began to occupy an increasingly important position in the life of the college students’learning. The network reading has some advantages:quick and easy, rich in resources, free and open, and it has had a great impact on college students reading. The network reading gradually becomes a new way of reading into the life of college students, so investigate the reason of the students do it and the network reading of today’s college students becomes necessary. However, the current domestic and international research is still little on the network reading motivation. Based on this, I did some exploratory research on the network reading motivation of the college students. In this study, the network reading motivation’s operational definition defines the strength of inspiring and guiding individual behavior towards the network reading goal.The first work was to establish the questionnaire of the college students’network reading. In this study, through access to previous research, reference expert advice on128students open questionnaire, I finally proposed the first dimension idea of the college students’network reading motivation and prepared initial college students’ network reading motivation questionnaire. Five dimensions are:contact identity, emotional expression, information gathering, personal accomplishment and interest in reading. Initial test in a total of350questionnaires were distributed, of which318questionnaires data exploratory factor analysis, and reference expert advice, combined dimension idea, Eventually adjusted to five factors:Social interaction, network to read in order to better communicate with others in order to get other people’s recognition and acceptance; Emotional expression, means to express and regulate emotions network read, to let their emotions get the catharsis and full; Access to information, the network read in order to collect data and information, access to their own needs; Personal accomplishment, most of the factors related to the personal qualities and means to improve their conservation; Interest in reading, network read in order to meet their hobby needs. The college students’network reading motivation formal questionnaire is made of27items.1100formal questionnaires were distributed, and1013valid questionnaires were recovered. Reliability testing using Cronbach a coefficient as an indicator, the results showed good internal consistency of the total questionnaire and its sub-dimensions. The validity of the test results indicate that college students’network reading motivation questionnaire has good content validity and construct validity.Then half of the formal questionnaire for statistical analysis, a total of521valid questionnaires, the college students’network reading behavior characteristics were analyzed, and discussed in depth the correlation between the college students’network reading motivation and act of network reading, the study also attempts to explore the correlation between the college students’network reading motivation and interpersonal relationship. Finally, the other half of the official questionnaire for statistical analysis, a total of487valid questionnaires, attempts to explore the correlation between the college students’network reading motivation and social support.The findings of this study are summarized as follows:(1). College students’network reading motivation contains multiple dimensional, including social interaction, emotional expression, access to information, personal accomplishment and interest in reading.(2). College students’network reading motivation questionnaires has good reliability and validity, and can be used as an effective questionnaire.(3). The average score of college students’network reading motivation higher than3. The average scores of the dimensions from high to low are:access to information, interest in reading, personal integrity, social interaction and emotional expression.(4). College students’network reading motivation has differences between urban and rural areas, grade, and has no significant differences in gender, ethnicity and professional. For network reading behavior, gender has significant difference in the type of the network reading material liked, but has no significant difference in the major network reading behavior. The highest grade of the learning network reading time is graduate student, the casual network reading time for seniors and graduate students are higher. (5). There is a positive correlation relationship between college students’network reading motivation and act of network reading. Compared to the time used in learning network reading, time used in leisure network reading had the higher correlation coefficient.(6). There is no correlation relationship between college students’network reading motivation and interpersonal relations.(7). There is a positive correlation relationship between college students’network reading motivation and social support.
