Task-based teaching methods has a wide application in language teaching currently, its emphasis on "learn in practice" giving students the opportunity to make full use of language; its core "work with the language" applying the basic concept of language into a practical method of classroom teaching. At the same time, vocational schools emphasize the relevance between learning content and practical activities. And teaching is designed to apply for certain application. Thus, the introduction of task-based teaching methods into vocational schools teaching has a strong practical significance and application value.Based on the basic concept, theoretical basis and a simplified literature review of the related research of task-based approach in and out of China, this paper tries to study thoroughly on the theoretical foundation and the application of the task-based approach to the English teaching in vocational school. Through the author's one-year teaching experiment, it investigates and analyzes the practice by comparing the test results of the experimental group with those of the control group. The experimental results show that the application of the task-based approach can not only improve the English learning of vocational school students but also arouse their interest and enhance their motivation in learning English. This study, which inspires the English teaching of vocational school, is also significant in offering theoretical and empirical basis for English teachers in vocational school to implement task-based approach in class.This paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter describes the importance of the study of task-based teaching as well as the research significance and methods of task-based English language teaching. Chapter Two is a detailed analysis of the foundational theory, values and requirements of the task-based English language teaching in vocational schools. The third chapter discusses the teaching design for the introduction of task-based approach into the teaching of vocational schools. Chapter Four records an application of task-based teaching methods in vocational schools, validating the teaching methods in the practice. The final chapter summarizes the task-based approach used in the teaching of English in vocational schools, and at the same time puts forward a number of proposals.
