How to maintain order and stability is one of the key issues in ethnic regions, especially in mixed ethnics areas. Basing on field research in a Hui village in mixed ethnic areas (Chen nian village in De zhou, the province of Shan dong), this paper takes the village public space perspective and tries to find out how the village order could be constructed through activities and interaction of the Hui ethnic people in the rural public spaces like village committee, Mosque, fair market, cattle and sheep market, cultural center and stylistic integrated square. This article describes and discusses how the internal and external order of Chen nian village could successively shape in the administrative public space, religious public space, economic public spaces and cultural public spaces. The construction of internal village order construction could be attributed to the leading function of village committee in administrative public space and mosque in religious public space. The village committee performs multiple functions and the village Communist Party secretary plays a leading role as elite, which is the context of the activities of the village committee, the interaction of the villagers and the village elite. During this progress, the village committee convinces the villagers, regulates the activities of the villagers and provides a normative basis for the shaping of village order. In the context of religion secularization, the mosque guides the order construction by means of religious values and morality. The religion provides a unified value criterion and forms association between peasants, while the religious activities strengthen the religious acquired canons. As to the construction of external order, the economic relationship and cultural connection that forms in economic public space and in cultural one plays a very important role. In the economic public space including the fair, cattle and sheep market, peasants from different form an economic connection while they trade with each other and it promotes the construction of external order among Chen nian and the other villages. The cultural compound, the recreation and sports square are public cultural spaces where the Hui and Han villagers could participate in various recreation activities, communicate with each other, which plays an important role during the order construction between different villages.Basing on the above analysis on public space and order construction, this paper argues that the perspective of village public space and the logic of order shaping fit well on the study of village order construction. With regard to the research on village order construction in ethnic areas, researchers should pay more attention on the interaction between government and endogenous power from the villagers, because the order construction requires not only the government's strong executive power, but also the binding rules which naturally generated from the village itself. Though, the conclusions which are drew from the above study need to be tested, supplemented and perfected.
