Religious belief has been influential in forming our conceptual cognition. The conception of "purity" of Chinese Hui nationality is affected directly by their Islamic religion, and exists significant differences between them and other non-Muslim nationalities. The Hui nationality are scattered in various parts of China and led to "mixed residence" with the Han people. As a result, they have to communicate with the Han nationality, but the "purity" conception of the Han people is not affected by Islamic religion. So the cognition difference of "purity" conception could be a hindering factor of communication among these two nationalities, and maybe causes the contradiction and collision between them. The purpose of this study are to reveals the differences of "purity" conception of the Hui and Han people and the implicit structure and concrete cognitive contents of this "purity" conception of two nationalities through using quantitative research design, then according to the research conclusions, the author will back to the theoretical discussions of education in intercultural communication. The main meanings of this thesis are as follows:At first, this is the first time to do some further studies on the purity conception of the Hui and Han people in China;Secondly, the author tries to verify the classic theory of purity that was mentioned by Mary Douglas and intends to do some localization studies about this topic which was used to be existed in the research field of anthropology;Thirdly, this is an interdisciplinary and innovative research which related to the subject knowledge of psychology, pedagogy, anthropology and religious studies;Forth, it focuses on the education in communication among different nationalities in the last part of this thesis, which fills up domestic research deficiency in this field.This research takes the Hui and Han people who are live in the Ningxia Autonomous Region and central area of Anhui province as the object of study and had used free association, literature research method, interview method, questionnaire survey, field work and mathematical statistics method on the study. This study adopted a self-complied questionnaire and put out410questionnaires in five different types of schools distributed in Ningxia and Anhui, took back362effective ones. By means of SPSS, the analyses are presented. The results showed that:At first, there exists significant differences between the Hui and Han people of their purity conception which mainly embodies in both the vertical and horizontal dimensions of implicit structure of purity conception;Secondly, there exist significant differences in Intercultural Sensitivity between the Hui and Han people;Thirdly, there exist obvious differences between two nationalities which included as following aspects:Understand and identify their national cultures, multicultural consciousness and the attitude towards communication among nationalities, the cognition of influencing factors of intercultural communication and the cultural needs of education in intercultural communication.According to the statistical conclusions and interview transcripts, the author tries to do some theoretical discussions on the education in communication among different nationalities and gives some reasonable suggestions as follows:At first, Education should pay more attention to the cognitive differences which caused by the cultural differences;Secondly, Education should guide and change the intercultural communicative awareness;Thirdly, The local education department should pay more attention to the school-based teaching materials development which contents focus on the Minority culture and communication among different nationalities;Forth, the school should offers the course on intercultural communication.
