Idolatry, which can be expressed through a certain behavior,is that an individual expresses his/her recognition with emotions of appreciation, favor, respect, admiration, desire and attachment to real or fictional characters. Idolatry is the special needs for junior middle school students' psychological development,and it will have a profound influence on their life and personality development.In order to get a better understanding of the contemporary junior students' attitudes towards idolatry and their deeper psychological emotions in Chengdu, the author tries to make a study with a qualitative research method, in which seven junior students of junior grades from one of Chengdu City's junior middle schools are chosen on purpose. This research aims to provide more important information for schools' successful mental health education and effective implementation.After data coding and analysis on the mentioned interview, the researcher comes to the following conclusions,1.main characteristics of the interviewees'idolatry including: awareness of idols and idol worship, roles of their idols, expressions of behavior and attitudes towards idolatry, relationships between idol worship and young people's several aspects which is closely related to their life, and influences on their personal growth, etc.2.being consistence of outcomes from the interviewees and questionnaire; 3.junior students tend to emphasize their idolatry's much positive influences on them.Based on the concentrating and analyzing on the junior students' characteristics of idolatry, the author puts forward the following recommendations for schools' idolatry education: pay attention to specific guidance for different students assisting on individual attitudes towards their idolatry; no good or bad for students' idol worship, but their attitude is the key; don't worry too much about students' idol worship since it is a normal phenomenon in their puberty; promote idolatry diversity of all students and its individual diversity; enhance good communication with the junior middle students with right guidance.
