Cong la economy is the unique economic form of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau which as the early and primary market in Tibetan areas springs up in accordance with the creation and development of Tibetan Buddhism monastery and undertakes the function of exchange of commodities and goods distribution. With the growth of monasteries, Cong la also expand and mature gradually. To some extent, the hierarchy of the monastery is in proportion of the scale of Cong la. As is well known, Tibetan Buddhism is closely connected with Tibetan society. Buddhist doctrine has spilled into the daily life of Tibetan people and become the indispensible part of their life. Moreover, Tibetan Buddhism is an important part of the long traditional culture of Tibet.Throughout history, the heritage and development of any religion is inseparable from the religious ceremonies and also the places. For Tibetan Buddhism, monastery is the place for religious activities and the building carrier of historical tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, which plays an important role in the historical evolution of Tibetan society. As a result of the development of the monastery, Cong la is necessarily affected by Tibetan Buddhism and monasteries. From a cultural point of view, Tibetan Buddhism is the cultural basis of the birth of Cong la; from an economic perspective, monastery is the economic basis of the development of Cong la.Cong la closely related to Tibetan Buddhism monastery is the powerful economic carrier of monastery, which plays an irreplaceable motivating role to Tibetan economic and social development, especially the development of commercial trade. There are regional differences besides commonness of any economic forms. This thesis is about the research on Cong la economy of Labrang monastery based on regional characteristics of Cong pull in Tibetan areas.In the introduction part of this thesis, the author systematically analyses the significance and background of this topic as well as the research dynamics, ideas and methods, and also illustrates the innovation and inadequacy of this thesis.In the first part, the author introduces the history of Labrang Tibetan area and the foundation of Labrang monastery, discusses the historical evolution of Labrang Cong la, and analyzes the characteristics and functions of Cong la.The generation of Cong la is inseparable from the establishment of the monastery. Cong la economy is closely connected with the Tibetan Buddhism monastery economy. In the second part, the author further analyzes the relation between Labrang commercial trade and Cong la based on the illustration of Labrang monastery economy, and systematically illustrates the change of the role and function of Cong la.
