In history, Wa ethnic group, living in southwest of Yunnan Province, is a farming ethnic group. For this ethnic group, land was not regarded as the core of its agricultural resources, and unlike other farming ethnic groups, land was not viewed as its lifeblood. However, from the foundation of People's Republic of China to now, the land use of Wa ethnic group has changed constantly due to the great influences of government policies and the market economy. And it is not a kind of spontaneously and gradually accumulated change, but belongs to a sort of complete one caused by social reforms. Because a large scale of paddy fields and arable lands appear, and seasonally used lands are changed into fixed arable lands, traditional farming structure of Wa ethnic group's land use has been changed. Nowadays, the economic corps is planted as a substitution of the food corps. With the change of land use, the local social culture is changed and a series of problems appear correspondingly.
