Research On The Effection Of Cultural Capital On Higher Education Access Opportunity

Nowadays, the gap between the social strata of China is gradually expanding. Education,especially higher education, is the effective way to change their destiny, to narrow the class gap,and to improve their social status.Therefore, the equality of opportunity in higher education isattracting more and more attention. The problem of higher education equal opportunities throughoutthe whole process of higher education, including the fair in matriculated opportunities, the processof education and educational results. The paper derived the dimension of cultural capital from socialstratification, and the influence of how the gap between cultural capital affects higher educationequal opportunities is researched. And in-depth analysis the deep-seated reasons for how the gapbetween the cultural capital affected higher education opportunities, and propose appropriaterecommendations to reduce the impact. This paper mainly analyzed from the following aspects:The first is the introduction, this study described the background and significance.And itintroduces the domestic and foreign research results. Then propose the method of this study.Second,it is the theoretical basis. Above of all,this paper defines the main concepts, Such ascultural capital, social stratification and so on. On the other hand, First of all the community definesthe important concepts in the text, such as cultural capital, and social stratification. On the otherhand, this article briefly describes the application of relevant theories of social stratification at homeand abroad, especially Bourdieu's cultural capital theory. He pointed out that the culture constitutethe symbols of the different classes in society,you would have to obtain this cultural capital tointerpret the symbols to enter the class, the culture brings out the division between the differentsocial classes and strata. He believes that the differences in the cultural and spiritual life of differentstratums, constitute a sign of their identity and status.Third, it describes the actuality of the higher education access opportunity under the vision ofsocial stratification, as well as the status quo of cultural capital on higher education opportunities.From the dimension of cultural capital to analyze the impact on the higher education opportunities.Then we have a conclusion that the vulnerable segments of society are unequal in the course ofhigher education.Finally, it in-depth analyzes the behind reasons why the culture capital gap between varioussocial strata have such great influence on the higher education, Such as institutional,economic andother reasons. At the same time according to these fundamental reasons,it makes some suggestionsin order to solve this problem. We hope that the fundamental solution can reduce adverse impact onthe equality of higher education due to the gap between social classes. And it can promote thehigher education to achieve equity.
