The Investigation On The Problem Of Equal Opportunity Of Higher Education In Our Country From The Perspective Of Social Stratification

Educational fairness is a beautiful ideal which is already held in the time of antiquity. The reason that it becomes the basic value of modern education is its special social function. The education of the modern society which is called accelerator, not only has the strong utility value, but also has the important value of non-utility. It has the function of promoting social equality, and keeping social stability. It is the social fairness value spread and embodied in educational field, including two basic aspects: equality of educational right and equality of educational opportunity. Because of the different social political status and economic status, as well as the different individual capacities, inborn gifts and inequalities, the equality of educational opportunity which acts as a basic concept of modern education has an obvious value direction, mainly aiming at changing the educational conditions of the disadvantageous social class. The principle of equal opportunity means that any disadvantageous condition of nature, economy, society or culture should get the possible compensation from the education system. In the unequal social reality, education can provide the equal opportunity of competition and promotion, help the weak group improve their living status, reduces the social unfairness, so it is regarded as the greatest tool to realize social equality. Consequently, accepting the equal opportunity of higher education should be the basic starting points of higher education development and reforms.Nowadays, the educational development of our country is developed upon the great differences between regions, countries and cities as well as different classes. The inequality of educational opportunity caused by the developmental imbalance between countries and cities, and between different regions is one of the most important educational situations in China. With the enlargement of the social gap between the rich and the poor, the educational right of the children of different classes has changed a lot. Who will and how to enjoy the good education becomes the important point which deserves being realized. With the rapid development of higher education in our country, it is important and necessary to lay a stable value and system foundation for the higher education, and keep it from imbalance and alienation through the deep theoretical research, right system and policy design.
