This study based on the theory of sports and communication. According to the descriptionof connotation with powerful sports province and the important meaning to the imageconstruction of the powerful sports province with mass communication, this article manifest thepoint that there is a great significance in image construction of Hubei powerful province sports.This article also expanded a deep investigation and studied on the communication strategies andeffect from sports coverage in Hubei newspaper to the image construction of Hubei powerfulprovince, using the methods of questionnaire, literature, study, interview, mathematical statisticsand so on in Hubei province Wuhan City, Xianning City and Huanggang City by sample surveyaccidentally. The inquiry from600questionnaire demonstrate these following facts:nowadays,the audience demand for more information of sports news; the development of newspaperreports is enduring the pressure from the other reports of mass media; people who want to touchthe sports news mainly acquire from integrated and metropolis newspaper; the investigation ofrecognition in Hubei newspaper sports coverage,which turn out many audience basicallysatisfied with most contents of sports reports; the audience considered it was too common forthe evaluation of the report communication of results to build the image of powerful sportsprovince of Hubei and also they put a high expectation on the newspaper media whether canguide the exercise with more scientific experience; According to the investigation of audience,this study also selected the Second Session of the National Mind Sports Games as a contenttheme, and chose "ChuTian metropolis Daily""Hubei Daily""Sports Weekly" as samples toanalysis the lack of communication strategies. To tackle these problems and combined witheffect of sports communication by HUBEI newspaper, this article considered that taking intoaccount every contents of sports news and balance the agenda setting, transfer the concept ofpropagation; play a positive role in guiding public opinion of the mass media in the nationalfitness activities; put more attention on training of practitioners in business; building the famousbrand for mass communication media industry and let the sports communication of mass mediabased on the characteristics of the region, emphasizing the integration effect with positiveopinion.
