Teachers'Career Plateau is mental behavior caused by the absence of job responsibility, vocational advancement and vocational intercourse. Researching on the status, features, shaping factors and minus effects of Teachers'Career Plateau will be of benefit to the management of elementary and middle school. Furthermore, it can make teachers to deal with their Career Plateau effectively in order to eliminate its minus effects for the healthful career. This study investigates 428 elementary and middle school teachers with other relative mature scales and three shaping factors scale constructed by author own, indicates the status, features, shaping factors and minus effects of Teachers'Career Plateau with positive methods, and give some countermeasures. The main productions of this research are as follows:1.Teacher's Career Plateau exists universally and the hierarchical plateau is notable especially. Teachers perceive small background supports and enormous stress from society. But, Teachers keep high level of job satisfaction, and low level of Turnover intention. Teacher's career state shows difference between different sex, age, teaching age, position and diploma.2.Three shaping factors scale constructed by author own includes teacher's vocational sentiment, perceived stress from society, background support. all scales'reliability and validity are very good. The correlative analysis indicates the correlation between teacher's career plateau and its shaping factors is significant; The regress model conveys the effect of teacher's vocational sentiment is most important, then, perceived stress from society and background support; teacher's vocational sentiment partially mediate the relationship between perceived stress from society, background support and teacher's career plateau.3. The correlations between Teacher's Career Plateau and job devotion, job satisfaction, turnover intentions are all significant, but the one between teacher's career plateau and job performance is not significant; the result of Correspondence Analysis indicates the teachers in career plateau are easy to put up high turnover intentions, low job devotion and low job satisfaction, however, the teachers without career plateau put up low turnover intentions, high devotion, high performance and high job satisfaction; the regression model conveys four dimension of Teachers'Career Plateau have different extent of prediction effect to job devotion, job performance, job satisfaction and turnover intentions.We discuss the results of research, and give some strategies for eliminating and eluding the Teachers'Career Plateau. Some shortages was pointed out in the end of this study.
