Study On Vocational Competency Of Tourist Guides Index System Construction

Under the higher education model of capacity-building-oriented, study on tourist guide professional competency is always concerned by tourism education researchers; it is not only related to tourism management major of teaching reform, but also related to the travel agency of human resource management. Reviewing the relevant researches of guider vocational competency, we can see that there are have many differences in understanding of tourist guide vocational competency index system by academic and industry experts, difficult to reach a consensus, and even have bigger dispute.In this study, through investigate academic and industry experts, construct the index system of guider vocational competency, and compare two kinds of experts' view about the index system, in order to clear the understanding and provide reference for the future of tourism education.This study uses interviewing and Delphi method to data collection and analysis, constructing the index system of tourist guide vocational ability. Finally, getting the experts' weight on each ability index by AHP, and comparing the academic experts with industry experts'opinions. The main conclusions are as follows:1. Tourist guide vocational ability index system is divided into two hierarchies, the first hierarchy consists of three indicators, professional knowledge, professional skill and professional quality, second contains 18 indexes such as attractions knowledge, communication and coordination etc.2. Overall experts AHP analysis results: In the rule layer, the importance of indexes sorting as follows: Professional quality, professional knowledge and professional skill; In sub-rule layer, dedication, communication and coordination, attractions knowledge, they have higher weight than other indexes; in sub-rule's all indexes sorting, dedication, communication and coordination, commentaries creation and explanation ranked the top three, and the weight aggregate for 0.3172. The position of final three indexes are travel knowledge, nursing and rescue knowledge, communication with the postal knowledge, three indexes weight sum 0.0845 only.3. Academic experts AHP analysis results: In the rule layer, the importance of indexes sorting as follows: Professional skill, professional knowledge and professional quality ; In sub-rule layer, commentaries creation and interpretation, psychological quality and traffic knowledge, sorting ahead in each sub-rule layer; In sub-rule's all indexes sorting, located on the front two indexes are commentaries creation and explanations, communication and coordination, they belong to vocational skill dimensions; Professional knowledge dimensions' indexes are all in six (including the sixth) later. Academic experts think that the most unimportance index is learning and innovation.4. Industry experts AHP analysis results: Indexes of rule layer are weighted order as follows: Professional quality, professional knowledge and professional skill; In sub-rule layer, dedication, communication and coordination, attractions knowledge are located each dimensions' top; In sub-rule's all indexes sorting, dedication (0.1834) and attractions knowledge (0.1012) are located on the top two. Industry experts consider that the most unimportance index is Communication with the postal knowledge.
