With the rapidly development of the social economy after enter the new century, the government increase the intensity of the highway construct in the western mountainous area, while bridge engineering is one of the most parts of mountain highway construction. Bridge construction in mountain area is more easily affected by topography, geology, meteorology or other natural conditions than in flat plains and have more potential safety hazard. Although our government always attaches great importance to the security issue during the engineering construction and release policy aimed to enhance the security management work, however the accidents of bridge construction in mountain area happened frequently and caused great loss.The paper based on the refer to the relevant literature and site survey of bridge construction and used the principle of safety system engineering researched the risk evaluation system of highway bridge construction in-depth and systematic. First, we introduce the conception of risk management, from it we will find every form management work is the risk management as the core and the aim is reduce the system risk. On this basis, I introduced some criterions relevant risk management and put forward the risk acceptable standards during the risk evaluation of bridge construction in the mountain area. Then, the paper to the Guanyindian Bridge(Lanzhou to Haikou highway, Guan Yuan section) for background put forward a risk identification method apply to bridge construction in mountain area. That is use the security material summary of prophase of construction period and previous accidents summary during the construction period and the investigation of the construction site to complete the risk identification work. Last, by means of expert survey estimated the probability of risk events and the loss, I also put forward the control measure and management guidelines of the risk evaluation used the risk matrix method based on ALARP principle to form the risk evaluation system.The paper finally evaluate the risk of the Guanyindian Bridge (Lanzhou to Haikou highway, Guan Yuan section) during construction period, it provides strong basis for risk management during bridge construction period.
