At present, it is a good opportunity of once in a lifetime for Sichuan Institute of Nonferrous Metallurgy that the State has strongly advocated for the development of green industries, low-carbon economy and new environmental friendly materials.In this paper, an in-depth analysis has been conducted of the industry and current situation in which Sichuan Institute of Nonferrous Metallurgy operates, and specifically, a thorough study carried out on the characteristics of three subsidiaries of Sichuan Research Institute of Nonferrous Metallurgy (Sichuan New Nonferrous Material Technology Co., Ltd; Sichuan Lithium Battery Material Technology Co., Ltd; and Sichuan Nonferrous Mining Resources Development Engineering Technology Co., Ltd). The meticulous research includes an analysis of business model, enterprise organizational structure, business geography and commercial environment, the selection and verification of developmental models, and the goal setting and the measures of safeguarding how to achieve those objectives, and many other aspects.On this basis, SWOT analysis approach is applied to the development trend of each company to further demonstrate the specific analysis and the results combined with the specific characteristics of individual company, and corresponding the mid- and long-term strategic planning for development is put forwarded. Proposals are made in the paper to emphasize cultivation of the potential in two aspects:the first is establishment of standardized modern enterprise management to capitalize the enterprise value, to gain a competitive advantage in a market economy, to gradually appreciate the actual value of the subsidiaries, and to formalize the status and functions of the parent company; the second is by strengthening and integration, to solve the current shortcomings and the underachievement part of the Institute, such as through design integration to get Sichuan Research Institute of Nonferrous Metallurgy out of the difficult situations, like long plight of lacking design qualifications, and to ultimately possess the complete industrial chain of its own.By analyzing and studying of Sichuan Institute of Nonferrous Metallurgy and the related industries, efforts are made to further improve the proposed ideas of development for the Group, and to shape a workable and meaningful strategic planning of guidance, and to provide a strong theoretical reference and support for the development of the three subsidiaries, and to pave the road for continued, sustainable development of the entire Group. It is expected that through about 10 years of development and continuous industrialization of research findings, Sichuan Institute of Nonferrous Metallurgy will become a large state-owned enterprise group with diversified businesses and operations, and a leader with modern management system in the domestic non-ferrous metallurgic industry.
