The Status And Developing Strategies Of Maize Processing Industry In Shanxi Province

With the influence of the energy crisis, maize is favored by people as a new alternative energy. The maize yield in Chinese is just lower than in American who has the highest yield of maize. Because of the natural conditions, Shanxi where two-thirds food production is maize has planted corn for a long time with high yield. Faced to the good development opportunities and challenges, Shanxi government has began to support maize processing industry by restructuring the maize processing chain to link the planting, sale, processing of maize which divided before in order to transform the resource advantage to economic advantage, and has brought the maize processing industry into a indispensable part of developing industrial economy. Now, in order to develop industry by establishing modern agriculture and solve agricultural issue basically, Shanxi province has adjusted the coal-based industrial structure to agriculture so as to transform the resource advantage of maize to economic advantage which solves the agricultural question by industrialized thought.In this paper, according to economic theories, we did a deep analysis on the status of the maize machining industry in Shanxi province by the comparative analysis method and case analysis method and by combining the statues of maize machining industry at home and abroad. Our research is aim to investigate factors that restrict the development of the maize machining industry so that the related departments pertinently make policies and countermeasures and finally find a feasible way to developing the maize machining industry. The study indicate that Shanxi which located in the best place availed to plant maize has the high yield, good quality of maize. Now the yield of maize is more than 20,000,000 t which occupied two-thirds of the whole food yield in Shanxi province and can satisfy the demand of maize processing corporation in and out Shanxi. Until 2009, except the maize feed processing corporations, there are more than 450 maize processing corporations in Shanxi whose products include maize food, starch, alcohol, and so on which occupied 1% of overseas maize products, and 15% of domestic maize products. In the future, the maize processing products will transform to deeping process which can increase the maize additive value and improve the benefit to maize processing corporations. At present maize processing products in Shanxi is divided into four kinds: the first kind is alcohol catena which include industrial alcohol, fuel alcohol, edible alcohol, and so on; the second kind is starch catena which include denaturalized starch, malt dextrin, lysine, and so on; the third kind is eatable catena which include deepfreeze maize, convenience food, maize special powder, and so on; the forth kind is feed catena which include albumen feed, concentrate feed, mix full nutrient feed, and so on.After several years'development, the maize processing industry has gained some achievement, but some problems still exist in maize processing industry in Shanxi province. Results showed that because maize planting is limited by some factors such as nature, technology, and society, and so on, maize have small improvement of yield, few kinds and low quality. Secondly, the scale of maize processing factories is too small and its reconstruction is heavily resulted in the less variety of products and short industry chain. Thirdly, the study of maize processing technology is lack of input, and the translation ratio of study production is too low because of the less of harmonious mechanism about scientific and technological research.Aimed at the above developmental statue and questions, the development of maize processing industry in Shanxi should follow the fundamental of optimizing area layout, breeding industrial aggregate colony and the independent innovation of science and technology, meanwhile, the government should give maize processing industry fund supports and help to integrate science and technology resources, and accelerate the construction of source bases and industrial region. Furthermore, maize processing factories and companies should complete their organizing structure and bring up persons with special ability. The whole industry should accelerate the technology innovation and give prominence to keystone. so as to improve the level of the whole maize processing industry in Shanxi province, regulate industry structure and enhance the company competition.Research results are significant not only to the development of maize processing industry and the translation of maize sources, but also to the regulation of the economic structure of the whole province.
