Construction project can be seen as one type of system engineering with large investment, long period, high complexity, and many stakeholders participating. Different party has different views of the same question; because all of them are pursuing profit. Inevitably, there exists so much divergence or conflict among stakeholders. Negotiation is known as deliberative decision-making. It aims to conflict resolving and reaching an agreement. Especially, negotiation plays an important role in tackling disputes of construction project and keeping a good relationship among stakeholders and managing construction project in common.Cognitive mapping is an essential part of the theory of negotiation, and had played an important role in deliberative decision-making. It can explain the situation in graph and make the goal clearer, which promote the negotiation.Through literature review on cognitive factors that influence the construction project negotiation, the cognitive factors are extracted. The cause relationship among the factors can be measured by statistical approaches, such as factors analysis, structural equation modeling and so on. Accordingly, the cognitive map of construction project negotiation comes out. The cognitive map will be analyzed and the result can be presented to decision makers in construction project negotiation. As time goes on, the cognitive map changes when there are stimulus from the environment. The result of the process of deduction is useful to negotiators. The process of cognitive mapping is complicated and boring. This thesis develops a framework of an information system to support cognitive mapping of construction project negotiation.
