The Research On Work Breakdown Structure Of Construction Project Based On Construction Information Classification System

Work breakdown structure as the significant tool, plays an important role in projectmanagement, which using the deliverable achievement as orientation for the definition of theproject scope. However, in our country , there is not a systematic and operable method forbuilding the work breakdown structure of contraction project, so the element breakdown formand expression way in work breakdown structure are influenced seriously by subjectivefactors.Both work breakdown structure of construction project and construction informationclassification system are the tools to breakdown and organize the construction information.The paper presents the construction information classification systems on abroad, such asISO12006-2,MasterFormatTM,Uniformat II,OminClass and Uniclass, in addition, theconstruction information classification structures included in bill of quantities,engineeringquota and Chinese library classification in our country is mentioned.The construction information classification system in the modern, which uses the ISOstandard as the framework, makes an attempt to contain all the information in building field,but in China, the existing construction information classification structures are established forsome specific construction project management jobs, which have not unified standard fororganizing the construction information, and including sectional information in building field.By comparing with the existing construction information classification systems at home andabroad, and making use of them, the paper mentions the proposals of construction informationclassification systems in the modern, which uses the ISO standard as the framework.Modern construction information classification system contains all the information inbuilding field in theory, while the elements of the work breakdown structure which is themethod to break down and organize the deliverable achievement of some specificconstruction project belong to that. By analyzing the relationship of construction informationclassification system and work breakdown structure, the paper raises the method for workbreakdown structure of construction project, which based on Modern construction informationclassification system. The procedures of the method are introduced in the paper, then theNO.1 line of Nanchang subway is used for example to explain the application of the method.
