Based on the land use structure data of 1996-2007 and the update data of 2008 in Fuzhou, this study analyzed the structure of land use status of Fuzhou and the change of land use structure though contribution rate analysis, land use degree analysis and information entropy change analysis, selected the indexes of land use and socio-economic, analyzed driving forces of land use change in Fuzhou using the gray relational analysis method. After that, the land use structure of Fuzhou in 2015 and 2020 was forecasted through grey GM(1,1) model all based on the land use structure data from 1996-2008. The results were concluded as follows:(1) Fuzhou had a variety of land use types, and the regional differences of land use in counties (cities, districts) were significant; (2) From 1996 to 2008, the area of farmland, orchard, unutilized land and the other land have been reducing constantly, while the area of other agricultural land, settlements and industrial land, transportation land and the land of water resource facilities increased; the area of woodland increased at first and then decreased, but the total amount increased; the area of farmland reduced most while the settlements and industrial land increased most; the transportation land increased most quickly, the settlements and industrial land followed, while the farmland reduced at fastest pace, followed by that of unutilized land; (3) The land use type which contributed most to the land use change in Fuzhou was the farm land, followed by the settlements and industrial land; the land use degree increased constantly, and there was a rapid increase since 2002; the information entropy decreased a little in 2002, but it displayed an increasing trend in the study period, and there was a significant regional differentiation in the 13 counties (cities, districts); (4) The analysis results of driving force showed that the change of farmland, orchard and woodland was affected mostly by industrial structure, the settlements and industrial land was affected mostly by population growth, and the transportation land was affected mostly by urbanization level; (5) In the next few years, farmland, orchard, woodland, unutilized land and the other land would be further reduced, while construction sites would continue to increase. Diversity index would rise, and the information entropy would keep increasing. Finally, some suggestions about land sustainable utilization were put forward based on the study.
