In recent years, the textile-printing industry has developed rapidly with increasing output and output value, and its operation quality and economic benefit has been continuously improved. While making great contributions to local economic development, however, it has also caused serious environmental pollution. The textile-printing industry has now been a large source of water use and pollution discharge, which prevents further development of the industry and also harms the public's health. An effective way to solve the problem of the relationship between economy and water resource is to study the evaluation method of water-conservation and waste-reduction cleaner production (CP) potential in textile-printing industry and the best available CP techniques. The study will be an important theoretical guidance and have practical application significance.Based on the researches of cleaner production nationally and internationally, and by analyzing the situation of water consumption and pollutant emission of the textile-printing industry, this paper established a set of water-conservation and waste-reduction cleaner production indicator system for the industry with the method of analytical hierarchy process(AHP) and proposed the best available techniques (BAT) for water-conservation and waste-reduction of the industry, getting the optimal processing parameters by studying new printing and dyeing experiments and providing technical support for the tasks of water-conservation and waste-reduction of the textile-printing industry.Following content was mainly included in the study:(1) Through researching and analyzing the situation of water consumption and pollutant emission and identifying the emission points of the textile-printing industry, the water metabolism model for the industry was constructed and its water-conservation and waste-reduction potential was analyzed.(2) Combining the characteristics of each section of printing and dyeing process, and with the use of AHP, the water-conservation and waste-reduction cleaner production indicator system for the industry was established, which included the target layer, the principle layer and the indicator layer.(3) Case study. We tested the reasonability of the built CP indicator system through case study, to prove its applicable and practical.(4) Technical research on the new printing and dyeing methods, including elemental chlorine-free bleaching technology and formaldehyde-free finishing process of polycarboxylic acid.(5) Through large amount of literature review and practical investigation, we developed and screened the water-conservation and waste-reduction CP techniques, forming the best available techniques (BAT) for water-conservation and waste-reduction of the textile-printing industry to provide support and reference for technical improvement of the industry.
