Since China reformed and opened over 30 years, our state has achieved remarkable economic achievements. The annual growth rate of average economy has been close to 10%. With the increasing year by year, the gross domestic product has currently surpassed Japan and ranked second in the world. People's living standards have been markedly improve and national comprehensive strength has been further strengthened. As one of three major driving forces, the consumption has a significant contribution to economic growth. However, the unbalanced consumption structure and the insufficient rural consumer demand have restricted the further growth of our economy. There is still more than 55% of the Chinese living in rural areas. The huge rural consumer market has great potential and driving force for China's future economic development. Therefore, improving the income of farmers, making the consumer environment better, a reasonable guide to the expansion of domestic demand on rural consumption is significant for economic growth. Through the analysis of rural current situation, this article makes an empirical analysis of some key factors which restrict rural consumption using a variety of methods, tries to find the main reasons of restricting rural consumption. At last this article provides some suggestions and recommendations to promote the development of rural consumption in China.This paper contains 6 chapters as follows:Chapter 1 introduces the background and significance of the research topic, outlines the status of rural consumption, and describes the contents, innovation and research methods of this paper. Chapter 2, according to the evolution and development phase characteristics of China's rural consumption, analyzes main problems of China's rural consumption. Chapter 3 analyzes in detail the main factors restricting China's rural consumption such as some in conception, in policy, in institution and in consumer environment. Chapter 4 analyzes the influencing factors of rural consumption with empirical data. Chapter 5 gives some important suggestions in six aspects to promote China's rural consumption. Chapter 6 summarizes some conclusions and prospects.
