SH Intellectual Property Group is an intellectual property law service provider. It was founded in 1986. Before 2011, SH Intellectual Property Group, intentionally or unintentionally, had used a commission based management methord which is commonly used in the current Chinese intellectual property society.Benefiting from Chinese rapid economic growth and China's prosperity in intellectual property applications, SH Intellectual Property Group, with some lawyers specializing in intellectual property law service, had developed greatly and obtained a leading place in Canton intellectual property market before 2005. In that time, the drawbacks of commission based management style had not been exposed substantially. After that, however, this kind of management did not fit SH Intellectual Property Group very well and caused negative effects to it. In the external enviroment, China's domestic intellectual property market has become more mature than ever before and some of SH Intellectual Property Group's competitors have improved their core competence fundmentally in the past few years. Furthermore, some foreign intellectual property law firms began to explore Chinese and Cantonese intellectual property law service market after 2003. Now these foreign firms constitute a major force in China foreign related intellectual property market.Since 1993, commission based management method is commonly used, but the facts prove that this methord can not help business to furtherly improve office enficiency. Some law practitioners have conducted many researches about this style. In spite of many efforts have been done, it seems that people have not found a commonly used way to manage an intellectual property firm. A few people have advocated and implemented corporate management style in these years, but the disadvantages of corporate management such as laziness, unfair compensation and money consuming have been fundamentally shaking the faiths to reform.This case study is dedicated to showing an internal management methord reform in the beginning of 2011 and recommends a new method, which has the feathers of capitalization and team work. In the author's opinion, this new methord is able to integrate internal resources and will be helpful for the upgrading of intellectual property firms management.
