Research On The Development Of Independent Innovation Ability Of Jiangsu Province

With the growth of knowledge-based economy, the role innovation plays in international competition is becoming more and more manifest, and enhancing independent innovation ability becomes the crucial factor of the development of technology, the adjustment of industrial structure and the transformation of economic mode in China. Jiangsu Province needs to improve its regional independent innovation ability because of the important role it plays in the economic development of China and its phase of economic development. Jiangsu government has provided strong policy support to enhance its independent innovation ability in the past five years, and got eminent improvement. However, there are some problems, thus policy strategies for its future development of independent innovation ability is significant.This research firstly analyzes the situation of development of regional independent innovation ability of Jiangsu, in the backdrop that enhancing independent innovation ability becomes a national strategy. Then Factor Analysis are used to evaluate the independent innovation ability of 31 provinces in China on the basis of constructing the comprehensive evaluation index system, and Cluster Analysis is used to analyze the independent innovation ability of cities in Jiangsu Province. At last, feasible strategies are proposed for further improvement of regional independent innovation ability of Jiangsu Province, with consideration to international successful experiences.The research shows that the regional independent innovation ability of Jiangsu, although is in the top 5 of China, behinds that of Shanghai, Guangdong, Beijing, and Zhejiang, and some developed countries. And there is an imbalance between the independent innovation abilities of 13 cities in Jiangsu. The independent innovation abilities of the cities in southern part of Jiangsu are much stronger than that of the cities in middle and northern part of Jiangsu. At the same time, several problems exist in the development of independent innovation ability of Jiangsu, According to the research conclusion and realistic situation, some policy suggestions relating to human resource, innovation movement, environment and mechanism will be helpful to the further improvement of regional independent innovation ability of Jiangsu province.
