Since 2003, the problem of employment of university students has become increasingly prominent.And reasonable solution to this problem has become a major event in the people's livelihood project. It's important in rationally using our country's high-level human resources and in the return on our investment in higher education. The sense of employment of university students can guide their employment behavior, and the employment area selection of the graduate is an important part of the concept of employment. Therefore, it is significant to research the concept of the employment area selection of the graduate in order to solve the employment problem of graduate.This paper draws on the introduction of background and significance and the research achievements at home and abroad. Firstly, the paper introduces three types of labor market segmentation,that is secondary labor market segmentation,regional labor market segmentation and the system labor market segmentation. This paper also analysis their constraints of employment area selection of the graduate. Secondly, this paper uses the data of the sample of survey of eleven college graduates in the Northeast of China and chooses four variables:gender, profession, hometown, qualifications. After that, this paper using Logistic model, gives the regression analysis of the above variables in choosing employment area. Finally, this paper presents research findings and some advices to guide students to rural employment for the given recommendations.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:First, the impact of the gender in the students selecting large cities, small cities is significant, but has no impact to their choosing small and medium urban cities. Girls are more willing to go to small and medium urban cities, while more boys than girls are willing to big cities. Second, the impact of hometown in employment area choosing is significant. College students are more willing to work in the geographical location of their hometown. Third, the impact of the degree of the education in employment area choosing is significant. The more education the person gains, the larger cities he chooses to work in. Fourth, the impact of the professional in choosing big cities, small cities employment is significant, but in choosing rural area is not significant. Fifth, the effects of gender, hometown, the academic and professional, whether students choosing to go to the grassroots level employment is significant.
