With the continuous deepening of the market economy system development, the reforms of Chinese tobacco logistics sector are gradually deepening, and the traditional mode of circulation can no longer meet the requirements of the new situation, providing efficient, cost-effective logistics services to enhance the operational efficiency of the tobacco logistics has become the major issues of the moment. With the evident importance, sorting as the core part of operating in a distribution center plays a role equivalent to the human heart or the air conditioning system compressor. This paper adopts a method----a combination of theoretical analysis and empirical example, and put up with a new method of order picking on the basis of a comprehensive in-depth analysis on the picking aspects of tobacco logistics center.This paper described the reality---the development of tobacco logistics industry, the role sorting has played to reduce logistics costs and improve the distribution center efficiency. Combining domestic and international status quo, raises the importance of scientific selection of the sorting strategy, so it's necessary to study and explore sorting to improve the distribution efficiency of the operation, which is an important part of the distribution center operation. Then on the basis of comparative analysis of various sorting strategies, this paper puts up with a new order batch approach, and builds the mathematical model of batch sorting orders aim of minimizing cost. Based on certain assumptions, this paper gives the mathematical model, whose objective function is to minimize the cost of the order picking. The travel time and order waiting time have been taken into account and different weights to quantify the cost of these two factors. Finally, this model is applied to a specific distribution center on the basis of analysising its processes, then adopt envelope algorithm for solving this problem,at end with a numerical example to prove its advanced nature. The numerical examples show that compared to the sorting method with the traditional FCFS way, the algorithm can significantly reduce the cost of distribution centers and improve picking efficiency. It means the order batch picking has a good application prospects.Overall, the article adopts an analytical method combining the qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis, and describes picking operation from several different perspectives throughout the article. Especially when creating the mathematical model, take the different weights of the waiting time and walking time into account to meet different requirements of tobacco logistics center in customer satisfaction and sorting efficiency.
