Under the background of its own urban-rural dual system, China has plenty of surplus rural labourers entering cities. And hundreds of millions of labourers become a huge group, which called migrant workers. From rural areas to cities, how do the migrant workers fulfil their social roles, how do they change their lifestyle and their sense of value for more easily living in city and join the community in the city? All these questions not only attract mass Medias'attention, but also are becoming focal issues in academic field. The dissertation takes some factory manual workers, who are working in Tongsha Industrial area in Dongguan, Guangdong province, as an example. Through analysing the survey data and information, this dissertation will start from economic, social and psychological aspects to study how the migrant workers adapt the urban life. The whole article will be divided into five parts. The first part is introduction, which mainly includes the background and significance of studying topic, related research, empirical study, research method, research structure and the introduction of basic situation. The second part is about the economic adaptation of the manual workers, who are mainly attached to workers employment, workshop and production space. The author believes that through lengthy and repetitive work, the manual workers'economic demands has been met basically. However, their payment and accommodation circumstances are still in a disadvantaged position. The third part is to analyse workers'social adaptation level, from ways of leisure and entertainments, social networks and relationship three sides. Through studying, we can see that the workers' leisure and entertaining life is tedious and simple, the social network is restricted and the workers are lack of interaction with the real city people. What's more, the workers'strong relationship mainly depends on their family or friends they have known before. The forth part, the dissertation is to discuss the manual workers' adaptation in psychology side from the following aspects:evaluation and attitude to urban and rural, self-identity, willingness for relocation, Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Unfortunately, economic income, working environment, and the improvement of consumption level do not narrow the gap between the manual workers and the real city people. The manual workers are eager to get rid of plant life. However, as a matter of fact, becoming real city people is really difficult for the manual workers.According to the above information and analysis, the fifth part starts to make a general conception about the affect factors on adaptation from private capital, social capital, and social system. Frankly speaking, manual workers in low class are facing various obstacles and restrictions in the urban adaptation issues. The sixth part is going to make a last conclusion for the whole dissertation.
