Economic Study On The Disadvantaged Position Of Migrant Workers

Migrant workers are a special product from the traditional Chinese rural society to the modernindustrial society. Along with the process of our country industrialization and city, migrant workers hasbecome a major force of economic development. The emergence of migrant workers, greatly improves theutilization rate of rural labor resources, makes enormous contribution to the industrialization of our country,but its contribution is contrasted with the city overall social weakened condition. Migrant workers live andsocial status brought about a series of social problems had increasingly become a hot issue of socialconcern.On one hand, migrant workers has made many contributions to the city development, cityconstruction has been inseparable from the existence of migrant workers; on the other hand, migrantworkers in the city can not enjoy their own rights and respect. Migrant workers, has always been at thelowest level of society, is a typically vulnerable groups. Therefore, a correct understanding of the status ofmigrant workers, solving the weak position of migrant workers, is the inevitable requirement of buildinga harmonious society and reflecting social fairness and justice in ChinaThis paper is divided into four partsThe first part, this article describes the significance, the background of migrant workers, explained, theinnovation and inadequacy.The second part, analyzes the current situation of migrant workers weak economic status fromremuneration for labor, employment, social security and other aspects, starting with the meaning of migrantworkers vulnerable position, using collected data, combined with field investigation,. Emphaticallypointing out that, there are two meanings for low labor remuneration:one is that the average wages ofmigrant workers is lower than urban workers, the other is that migrant workers wage growth rate is lowerthan the GDP growth rate. In terms of employment, the employment opportunity not equal, employmentrights and lack of employment security, unequal treatment, labor management employment equity rightsimperfection is typical, resulting in low position, the frequent flow of migrant workers. On the socialsecurity, migrant workers lack of unemployment insurance, medical insurance, labor security etc. The third part, analyses the root of migrant workers weak economic status. China has a series ofsystems, such as political system, census register system, organization system, social security and welfaresystem, system of labor obtain employment. These systems separate farmer apart from citizen.That letmigrant workers become marginalized groups. It has a certain discriminatory. Thus, the economic status ofthe migrant workers vulnerable, rooted in the current system. The household registration system,employment system, social security system, public lawsuit mechanism of interests and other issues aremore prominent. Specifically, migrant workers in economically disadvantaged, derives from the division ofurban and rural political system two yuan, two yuan income allocation system and social security systemfor migrant workers, their lack of culture and technology, the social environment not conducive to migrantworkers, migrant workers own existence limitation.The fourth part, on the basis of the above analysis, the author put forward to improve migrant workersweak economic status countermeasures, such as improving the income of rural migrant workers, improvethe social security system for migrant workers, effective political participation, strengthening governmentprotection function, increasing migrant workers skills training, creating a tolerant social environment,promoting the citizenization of migrant workers, enhancing migrant workers consciousness.
