Research On The Application Of Barcode Technology In The Inventory Management

ERP, as an advanced management technology and management concept, is an information platform, which is based on information technology, oriented to supply chain and integrating the resources both inside and outside the enterprise. With the continuous advance of economic globalization and information globalization, ERP is irreplaceable as the product of computer technology and modern advanced management idea and management method in the revolution of management mode. In the application of ERP, the inaccurate data almost is the obstacle when implementing ERP because its function is huge, the flow is complicated and data is various. Just as the saying goes:"Technology three minutes, management seven minutes, data twelve minutes", which proves convincingly the importance of the basic data for ERP. Therefore, how to collect data rapidly and accurately becomes an important research topic in the application of ERP.The barcode technique comes from the development and application of computer and information technology which combines coding, printing, identification, data collection and data processing. It is the automatic identification technology whose application is most common. Using the barcode technique can collect the material information rapidly and accurately. The barcode technology is applied to ERP that can collect data immediately, reduce the error rate when inputting the information, improve work efficiency and the management level of the enterprise and realize the rapid interaction of information among the different departments.This paper researches the inventory management of C enterprise in machine tool industry and analyzes the application of the barcode technique in the inventory management. It is investigating and analyzing the current situation of inventory management in C enterprise, formulating the material coding and receipts coding of the business fit for the technical regulation according to the ERP management idea and the enterprise situation, redesigning the operation flow of the inventory management and finally put forward the solution of the ERP inventory barcode management system, which is based on the barcode technology. These technologies, such as Visual C#program development, SQL Server data base technology and the barcode technology, are used to develop the ERP inventory barcode management system including the function of barcode printing and the inventory business processing. The result of system testing shows that using this system can insure the timeliness, accuracy and reliability of collecting the basic data, regulate the work flow of inventory management, improve the speed of inquiring information, realize the management of inventory material, promote the automatic level of inventory management and then improve the management level of enterprise.
