The Research Into The Present Situation Of Mathematics Reading Of Mathematics Majors In College

As an important activity of a human in society, reading is not only one of the importantways that people learn scientific and cultural knowledge, but also the foundation of the abilitythat one collects and processing information. Especially, the reading situation of theprofessional determines the level of the professional research. Mathematics majors as thereserve force of the mathematical research, their math reading level does not only affect theirmathematical learning in the school, but also determines the future level of mathematicalresearch. Therefore, understanding the math reading situation of mathematics majors andimproving their ability to math reading is an important way to help them learn math, and learnmath well.Through the form of questionnaires and interviews, the paper do a research into thepresent situation of mathematics majors,math reading at the university, and from the surveyresults find that: Students during the school have the basic math reading, but their generallevel of mathematical reading is not very high. They have the high level of awareness for theimportance of math reading, and mostly have the positive attitude toward the role of mathreading, but they still have some deficiencies in the process of math reading, Such as mathreading range is narrow, extra-textbook reading time is short, good reading habits and readinginitiative is insufficient, mathematics reading methods is not proper. The study also found thatthe awareness on the importance of mathematics reading and the behavior to the mathematicsreading that college students have is inconsistent. They mostly have realized the mathematicsreading and they are also willing to read, but they have no self-control to restrain themselvesin mathematics read, so it causes the lack of their mathematics reading.Above the situation, the paper put forward several suggestions, including that increasingthe scores in process of studying mathematics, establishing the mathematics reading groups,combining extra-textbook reading and textbook reading, increasing the use and reading ofelectronic resources and enriching mathematics reading room. We hope to help to improve thecurrent situation of university students in mathematics reading.
