The problem of water pollution that arises along with the rapid development ofindustry has caused serious water resources shortage in China. It is also highlightedhow to reduce the fresh water consumption and waste water generation by the public.In petrochemical industry, the potential of water conservation is still large because oftechnical backward the developed countries. The water integral technology that wasused to optimize water using, minimize the fresh water consumption, increase thewater recycle and reduce waste water discharge is becoming a hot topic now.The technology plays an important role on the energy-efficient design andreconstruction, as well as analyzing the optimized water network and design method.The fresh water consumption and waste water generation can be highly reduced byuse of it. The water pinch technology, as a typical and representative water integraltechnology, has been particularly introduced in this work.The water utilization and wastewater discharge were analyzed systemically inthe Dalian Refinery Plant by the water balance test method. Based on the investigatedwater using and discharging characteristics and the technical and managerial flaws inthe plant, we used a new integral water conservation process to analyze the waterusing potential and estimate the investment benefit.The main results by use of the combined water pinch technology inpetrochemical industry are shown in the following:(1) The reuse water was about61.7t/h by the water pinch technologyoptimization, which significantly reduced the industrial water consumption andwastewater emissions. The fresh water consumption and wastewater discharge perone ton both decreased0.030t/t and the industrial wastewater reuse rate increasedfrom41%to44%.(2) The reduced water circulation was about1384.28t/h by the reconfiguring thesecond Circulating Water System, which saved about2,656,800Yuan per year.The water consumption and discharge of the Dalian Refinery Plant could reachthe advanced levels in China by the application of the water pinch technology optimization. The water integral technology which based on the water balance testand the water-point analysis, can be applied to the water reuse and wastewaterminimization of other refining chemical enterprise.
