In recent years, the water demand of human beings has been increasing with the rapid development of economy, giving rise to the serious water shortage. Accordingly, water-saving and emission reduction becomes an indispensable strategy to resolve the contradiction between supply and demand of the water resources. Water pinch technology as one of the important technologies for water-saving and emission reduction has being paid more and more attention by worldwide. There are three bottlenecks being mentioned for water pinch technology application basis on the summarization of materials home and abroad. First, the selection of water source and water sink relied primarily on experience, lacking scientific method. Second, the selection of restrictive index is also based on the experience and at most3to4kinds of impurities could be considered in optimization procedure. Third, the limiting data of water is determined through repeated tests to determine the optimal data. At last, computer programming is needed in solving process because of the more complex mathematical models, and the initial network program obtained by program needs further adjustment with poor operability.For the three technical bottlenecks mentioned above, this paper tries to find some options. First of all, the final water source is selected after comparisons between every two water sources through analytic hierarchy process based on experts grading method, and consistency check is conducted for the results to reduce the influence of personal factors. Secondly, by rotating coordinates and normalization the single impurity water pinch model is developed into multiple contaminants model called wastewater recycling treatment rose diagram as the reconstruction of water pinch point figure. The number of restrictive impurities is not limited in the rose diagram in which combination of restrictive impurities and water limiting data is reflected together, and programming is not needed any more.The rose diagram for wastewater recycling was demonstrated in water system of NEPG Northeast General Pharmaceutical Factory Vc workshop. Results showed that it was feasible and influence of personal factors was reduced compared with the traditional technology. Besides, the number of restrictive impurities was no longer limited. And calculation process was simplified because the programming was not needed in formation process of optimization network. Case studies showed that rose program was more simple, intuitive, and operational. Rose program is still at the exploration stage and also needs to be further improved.
