The durable press finishing is an important processing to improve the appearance andwearability of the cotton fabric. But after durable press finishing, the strength of the fabric isdecreased significantly and the hand-touch is deterioration. This issue studyed the mechanicalproperties of the single yarn and the ply yarn before and after treatment of non-iron to provida theoretical basis and reference data for further research.Major process parameters such as the concentration of durable press finishing agent, theconcentration of catalyst, the curing temperature and curing time were studyed.and analyzedthe mechanics properties of single yarn. The optimization of process conditions for processingyarn is that the concentration of durable press finishing agent PS-14was60g/L, theconcentration of catalyst C-5was25g/L, curing temperature was160℃, curing time was2min.Model A, Model B and Model C were established. The original yarn and non-iron yarnwere made to ply yarn with the same direction as that of single yarn, and tested themechanical properties before and after curing. The research shows that the content of non-ironyarn and the twisting method had no effect to the overall trend of breaking strength andelongation at break. The single yarn is Jc3.6tex and the twist factor is423. when the twistfactor was200, the ply yarn got the maximum breaking strength. When the twist factor offoled yarn was less than200, the breaking strength was increased with the increase of thetwist factor. when the twist factor was more than200, the breaking strength was decreasedwith the twist factor increases. Elongation at break has been increasing with the increase ofthe twist factor. The higher the content of non-iron yarn, the smaller. breaking strength andelongation at break before and after curing.Using the Model A, two single yarns were spun into ZZ ply yarn, then two ZZ ply yarnswith different content of non-iron yarn were spun into ZZS complex ply yarn, and tested themechanical properties of complex ply yarn before and after curing. The research shows thatthe content of non-iron yarn in complex ply yarn had no effect to the overall trend of breakingstrength and elongation at break. The breaking strength of the complex ply yarn has twopeaks. When twist factor is small, the elongation at break of the complex ply yarn changeslittle. And the twist factor is more than300, the elongation at break of the complex ply yarnincrease rapidly.Using the Model A, two single yarns were spun into ZS ply yarn, then two ZS ply yarnswith different content of non-iron yarn were spun into ZSZ complex ply yarn, and tested themechanical properties of complex ply yarn before and after curing. The research shows thatthe content of non-iron yarn in complex ply yarn had no effect to the overall trend of breakingstrength and elongation at break. The breaking strength of the complex ply yarn had a criticaltwist factor, and the change rule of the breaking strength is similar with the short fiber twisted into the yarn’s.Elongation at break has been increasing with the increase of the twistfactor.
