In modern society, parents cultivating their children’s attention level has been reached a certain height, they put more and more emphasis on investment in early childhood education. Children’s nature is to play, that they can feel the reality, understand the world and increase intelligence in the process of playing. Toys are essential for children’s physical and mental health and should be used as important tools. To some extent, toys play a decisive role in early childhood education.This paper is intended to obtain a set of the design direction of toys to make up for deficiencies in early childhood education(here mainly for the early childhood EQ education), it will be based on the theory of design and child development psychology by studying how toys affect early childhood education and by considering the current toy trends as well as the specific situation of China’s toy development. Finally, this paper is hoped to provide the theoretical and practical basis for the development of China’s toy industry.This paper is divided into five chapters, the first chapter is an introduction, the status of toy design and development trends, the development status of cultivating EQ toys, that illustrate the need to study the issue. The second chapter is mainly for theoretical research in toys and children’s early education which will provide further explanation for the possibility of toys affecting early childhood education. The third chapter analyzes the toys systematically based on relative theory for the design psychology and child development psychology. Moreover, it also conducts a survey of toy design for early childhood education at home and abroad. Finally, it puts up the argument that toys designing can cultivate early childhood EQ. The fourth chapter is a focus of the article, mainly by talking about how toys can be designed to achieve the purpose of training early childhood EQ. It will come to a conclusion of the new design direction and new design methods on the toy design for cultivating EQ. The fifth chapter is a design practice derived from the guidance of the new direction and methods in order to prove its feasibility.
