In this thesis, the comparison of the main processes of ABS production from the manufacturers all of the world was done, the advantages and disadvantages of processes of bulk polymerization and emulsion polymerization, of one-step process and agglomeration process for emulsion polymerization of butadiene, of single-reaction kettle and double-reaction kettle for polymerization, of one-step devolatilization and two-step devolatilization for refining system, of hydro-extruding process and dehydro-extruding process were investigated for a new400kt/a ABS plant.Considering the characteristics and operating experiences of plants now in Jilin Petro Chemical, the new processes were adopted as mixing of productions of grafting in emulsion and SAN bulk polymerizing.(1) Polybutadiene latex were synthetized by one-step emulsion polymerization with in-put of fresh butadiene without washing with alkali,which simplifying the process.(2) Polymerization of SAN was in double-reaction kettle and two-step devolatilization for refining system was adopted.(3) Processes of grafting polymerization of ABS:emulsion polymerization was adopted with reaction-time6hr, conversion ratio98%and content of rubber60%.(4) Condensating dehydration:final ratio of water of wet powder was at about35±2%by putting to use sulphuric acid and continuous centrifuging.(5) Process of prilling by extruding:hydro-extruding process of mixing ABS was adopted with the advantages of short circuit, energy conservation and high whiteness.The such properties of the productions produced by the processes mentioned above as mechanical property, thermal behaviour and the ability of flowing were tested, which were similar to those of the productions manufactured by overseas companies.
