The mosquito not only bites human,but also spreads malaria, encephalitis, dengue feverand other diseases, which does serious harm to human health. So preparation of repellencyfabric is an effective method to prevent diseases spreading by mosquito. Now, the repellencyfabric usually use DEET, pyrethrum as repellent, but these kinds of synthetic repellent areharmful to human body and environment. To solve the above problems, MCT-β-CD wassynthetized by cyanuric chloride and β-CD, then grafted MCT-β-CD onto cotton fabric; useBTCA as cross-linking agent to graft β-CD onto silk fabric, loading citronella essential oil andlavender essential oil to make mosquito repellent fabric and impart mosquito repellencefunction.According to the production rate of MCT-β-CD and the cotton fabric graft rate, the bestsynthesis process is as follows: the molar ratio of cyanuric chloride and β-CD was3:1, thereaction solution was80mL, the reaction time was9hours. UV-vis and FT-IR suggested thatthe cyanuric chloride had ideally reacted with β-CD;1H NMR showed that the reaction oflocation was in the hydroxyl of C-6, ESI-MS showed that the DS of MCT-β-CD was1.43, theproportion of monosubstitution, disubstitution, trisubstitution was1:1.4:0.8.According to the grafted rate of MCT-β-CD-g-cotton fabric, the results showed that thefabric grafte rate could reach to5.48%when exposed to120g/L MCT-β-CD,30g/L Na2CO3under150℃for5min. The MCT-β-CD-g-cotton fabric still had good inclusion ability and thehigher grafted rate the better inclusion ability. The DSC demonstrated that the MCT-β-CDcombined with cotton fabric by covalent bond. The SEM could observe the MCT-β-CD on thecotton fiber. We reseached the behavior of MCT-β-CD-g-cotton fabric dyed with react dying,the results showed that the K/S value of the dyed MCT-β-CD-g-cotton fabric was much lowerthan the blank fabric; when grafted the dying fabric, the K/S value was slightly higher than theblank fabric, but the grafted rate was slightly lower. The MCT-β-CD-g-cotton fabric and blankcotton fabric were treated with citronella essential oil and lavender essential oil, the resultsshowed that the MCT-β-CD-g-cotton fabric had better mosquito repellence performance, after placed8days, the MCT-β-CD-g-cotton fabric treated by citronella essential oil could staymore than70%, while the lavender essential oil could stay over60%.According to the weight gain rate of β-CD-g-silk fabric, the results showed that the fabricweight gain ratio could reach to18.43%when exposed to100g/L β-CD,100g/L BTCA and40g/L SHP under170℃for3min, or under180℃for4min. FT-IR and SEM demonstratedthat the β-CD had grafted onto silk fabric successfully. The β-CD-g-silk fabric’s K/S value wasmore higher than the blank fabric when dyed with cationic dye, but were lower when dyedwith the reactive dyes and acid dyes. If grafted β-CD after dyed with reactive dyes and aciddyes, the K/S value was slightly higher than the blank fabric, but the grafted rate was slightlylower. The β-CD-g-silk fabric and blank silk fabric were treated with citronella essential oiland lavender essential oil, the results showed that the MCT-β-CD-g-cotton fabric had betterslow-release performance, after placed7days, the repellent rate of MCT-β-CD-g-cotton fabrictreated by citronella essential oil could stay more than75%, while the lavender essential oilcould stay over70%.
