Fossil fuel shortages and serious environmental problems attract people’s attention on clean and renewable energy development increasingly, followed by various alternative fuels appearing. Heavy oil reserves of the world are abundant. What is more, heavy oil mixing with water and magnetization technology have double effects of both energy-saving and emission-reduction. Therefore, the studies on heavy oil mixing with water and magnetization have important economic values and theoretical significances. This paper introduces current technologies of heavy oil mixing with water. However, each technology has advantages and disadvantages, and certain restrictions would exist in practice. It also presents the mechanism of energy-saving and emission-reduction after heavy oil is mixed with water and magnetized, and the factors affecting the quality and measurement of watered heavy oil.Firstly, mechanical micro-stirring is employed to prepare W/O watered heavy oil in this paper. By three-stage stirring technology, the small water droplets are dispersed in the heavy oil evenly. Through adjusting parameters of oil temperature, water content and stirring speed correctly, viscosity of watered heavy oil is measured by rotating viscometer, water content is obtained by thermal extraction with constant temperature, and water droplet size and distribution are characterized by microscopy. Based on the changes of viscosity of watered heavy oil, water droplet size and distribution, best ranges of parameters are obtained. Experimental results indicate that, when preparing watered heavy oil, considering reducing water droplet size and viscosity of watered heavy oil while increasing numerical density of water droplet, the temperature should be 70℃, the optimal ranges of water content and stirring speed are 3%-5%and 1260r/min-1400r/min, respectively. On the basis of optimizing the preparing parameters, magnetizer is added to the original mechanical micro-stirring device for further reducing water droplet size of watered heavy oil in magnetic field. Viscosity, water droplet size and distribution of watered heavy oil are measured by adjusting parameters such as mode of magnetization, temperature, magnetic induction and flow of heavy oil correctly. Methods of measurement are the same as mentioned above. Based on the changes of viscosity of watered heavy oil, water droplet size and distribution before and after magnetization, the best ranges of factors are obtained. Experimental results indicate that, viscosity of heavy oil reduces under magnetization, at the same time viscosity of watered heavy oil and water droplet size both reduce; considering reducing water droplet size and viscosity of watered heavy oil, when preparing watered heavy oil, the heavy oil should be magnetized first and then mixed with water, the temperature should be 65℃-70℃and the optimal ranges of magnetic induction and flow of heavy oil are 0.15T-0.18T and 0.10m3/h-0.14m3/h, respectively.
