The real time position measuring of the space coordinates for the dynamic tool of large machine tools is an important issue in the field of measuring.To realize the measurement of the dynamic tool position, the laser tracking measurement positioning system is the most promising way at present.The space coordinates laser tracking measurement positioning system which based on the principle of multilateral method hold many characteristics, such as high precision, flexible, measurement range, dynamic, field measurement etc.So its not only can be applied to the real time space coordinates measurement of the tool of large machine tool, can also extends to many industrial fields, for example, used in aerospace, heavy machinery, large installation, and some other field which needs big size measurement.This subject is mainly researching about the design of the laser measurements of space positioning system, hardware design and selection, algorithm of control system, and user interface design. This paper’s researching mainly includes the following respects.1. Built an ideal model of the three dimensional right Angle coordinate measuring system and two degree laser measurement organization structure model.2. Designed a kind of optical fiber transmission laser measurement system, which makes the laser tracking process become simple, and reduces the requirements of the stability request from the system.3. Designed a kind of laser tracking scheme which based on the principle of laser tracking multilateral method.4. According to the communication protocol of the laser range sensor, redact the PC program of the laser measurement positioning system which basis of visual C++, redact single chip program of controlling operation stepping motor drive drives stepping motor, and communication and the Supervisory Computer.5. Analyses the error sources of laser measurement positioning system, including distance error, Angle error, the agency error and the tracking error, and points out the distance error as the main error sources.
