Cantilevered heading machine which can be used for exploitation of ores impregnated in hard rocks, which represents the future of mechanized continuous mining. When cutting rock, the cutting bits change in the location and physical mechanical environment, accompanied by many uncertain factors. Therefore, it is necessary to study the main influencing factors. In this paper, the rock fracturing process was monitored and investigated by incorporating the research techniques of analyzing cutting head working scenarios, on-site cutting tests and laboratory simulation tests etc. The main contents and results are listed as follows:(1) Sufficient investigations into the physical mechanical properties of the Maluping phosphate ore rock and its structure plane properties were conducted. The in situ stress conditions of the whole mine and working faces were evaluated and measured. The results indicate that the mine rock mass can be characteristiced as hard rock with high stress, and the induced fracturing theory can be introduced through utilizing the high stress.(2) The pick-shaped cutter was studied, as well as the effects of geometrical parameters and quality of cutting bits on cutting process, and the movements and loadings of cutting bits.The cutting head of roadheader was grouped by identifying the different teeth. The tooth movement and loading status were analyzed.(3)The cutting tests were performed to stope the pillars in640level of Maluping mine. Cutting without free face was not efficient, with low cutting speed and high wear proportion while cutting along with loose zone said completely the opposite.. As a result of different cutting depth and cutting t time, the cutting teeth in different groups displayed varying wear forms and wear degree. Furthermore, the teeth arranged in a same spiral line exhibited varying wear forms. When compared with the cutting along the loose circle, on heading cutting cutting tooth wear curve shifts.proved on heading, the depletion of pick increases, based on induced thinking,along the loose circle cutting can not only improves the efficiency of cutting but can also reduces the wear and tear of the pick.(4) the pick-shaped cut teeth hard rock cutting process PFC simulation, and analysis of the stress distribution changes of the ore body and ore cutting failure process, deepen understanding of the cutting mechanism.
