With the machining developing to high level, CNC machine and metalworking centre are prevalent in factory in recent year。But the metalworking fluid (MWF) available has the problems of poor lubrication and corrosion effect on some kinds of metal, such as aluminium or copper. Consequently, developing all-purposes MWF is becoming urgent. The semi-synthetic cutting fluid systems were primarily formulated by choosing the optimum surfactants. The formulation shows good emulsion stability and corrosion resistance to ferrous metal, aluminium and copper. On this basis, macromolecule polymer, alkyl boric acid ester, fungicide, silicone oil emulsion were added into this fomulation, which can greatly improve the performance of antirust, extreme pressure, antibacterial and antifoaming. The semi-synthetic cutting fluid shows excellent cutting performance in field test. Test shows that hard water has fatal influence on cutting fluid, so soft water should be choose for diluting cutting fluid.
