Mineral resources, the non-renewable resources, are the important materialbasis for the survival of human beings and the development of social. To someextent, the development of mineral resources is unsustainable. While thedevelopment of mineral resources promoting regional economic growth, seriousecological problems have been brought increasingly. The contradiction between thedevelopment of mineral resources and ecosystem is increasingly acute. Manyresults are concentrated in how to develop mineral resources effectively and how toprotect the ecological environment, particularly are lack in researching theinteraction between the development of mineral resources and ecosystem. Throughthe different coupling elements, the development of mineral resources andecosystem are interdependent, mutual restricted. Thereby the coupling mechanismwhich be elaborated can help people to think and to find effective ways to addressthe development of mineral resources and ecological protection.Firstly, the connotation and characteristics of mineral resources, thedevelopment of mineral resources and ecosystem are described. Secondly, the stressfrom the development of mineral resources to ecosystem, and the constraints fromthe development of mineral resources to ecosystem and the different couplingrelationships between the development of mineral resources and ecosystem arein-depth studied. Thirdly, using the principles and methods of system dynamics, thepaper is to analyze the model structure of the development of mineral resources andecosystem, to draw causal diagrams and system flow diagram, to build the systemdynamics coupling model and simulation which focused on the different values ofthe relevant parameters of the investment of mineral resources industry and theinvestment of ecosystem. Finally, this paper puts forward some suggestions whichrelated to the coupling model and simulation results. The results show that theinvestment as one of the coupling factors which plays an important role in thedevelopment of mineral resources and especially in ecosystem.
