The synthesis of laser ceramic powders is the prerequisite and key of the transparent ceramics. There has not been reported currently yet in the country about neodymium-doped ytterbium aluminum garet(Nd:YbAG) and neodymium-doped ytterbium gallium garet(Nd:YbGG) ceramic powders. In this paper, the powders of Nd:YbAG and Nd:YbGG laser ceramic have been prepared by co-precipitation method and low-temperature method, and the precursor calcination time and calcination temperature have been discussed. XRD, IR, SEM and spectral analysis have been used to study structure, morphoylogy and spectral properties of powders.The results was shown that YbAG, YbGG pure phase at800℃can be obtained by two method, The optimum preparation conditions of co-precipitation method: calcined at1000℃for2hours; The optimum preparation conditions of low-temperature combustion method:calcined at950℃for2hours. Absorption and fluorescence emission spectra of Nd:YbAG and Nd:YbGG laser ceramic powders were studied. From the fluorescent spectra excited by808nm and970nm, the Nd3+â†'Yb3+and Yb3+â†'Nd3+energy transfer have been observed.
