This thesis reports a new type of composite plates, which is laminated with hardlayers TiN, TiSiN and soft layers Al. The objective of this research is to find a newapplication for the TiSiN super-hard nano-composite coatings. There are three parts inthe study of this composite plates.First part, a computing method of stress and strain in Berkovich indentation wasfound out. Giving some suggested yield stresses for the finite element analysis withABAQUS, then making contrast obtaining load-displacement curves withexperimental curves, finally determining the material yield stress.Second part, a composite plate structure is designed, which is based on theclassical laminated plate theory, laminate macro mechanics theory and strength theory. At the same time, in order to avoid the effect of stretching and bending on the overallperformance of composite plates, a symmetrically structure is used. On this basis, thespecific modulus is calculated according to the physical significance of the specificmodulus.Third part, the transient dynamic analysis under the load of transverse impactand the high frequency impact are finished by using ABAQUS, and the maximumimpact force and the residual velocity of different thickness models are obtained.Contrasting the impact results with the steel plate of different thickness andinvestigating the performance of reducing impact force by the composite laminatedplates. Finally, the temperature field and heat flux by the thermodynamic analysis ofthe composite plates are obtained, and observe the heat insulation performance. The following results can be obtained among this study: this materialstress-strain calculate method in the Berkovich indentation is feasible; the yield stressof TiN and TiSiN is12GPa and25GPa; the specific modulus of Al/TiN/TiSiNcomposite laminated plates is100times of steel plate,10times of carbon fiber; moreimportantly, contrasting with the steel plate, the composite laminated plates candecrease50%impact force under the same impact conditions. In addition, thecomposite laminated plates have significant thermal insulation. To sum up, A1/TiN/TiSiN composite laminated plates have a greater specificmodulus, thermal insulation effect, and can be to decrease impact force. The value ofthese advantages is self-evident for industrial.
