The efficiency of the cold-rolled strip greatly symbolizes the iron and steel industry’slevel of a country. As the economic development of our country, the requirements of highaccuracy and ultra-thin strip steel become greater and the requirements of its qualitybecome higher. Common cold rolled strip steel are usually produced by four or six rollscontinuous cold rolling mill, for stainless steel, silicon steel and alloy steel which isdifficult to deform, as well as high accuracy, wide and thin, ultra-thin strip steel areusually produced by multi-roll mill. In recent years, multi-roll mill are used not only forrolling the metal which is difficult to deform, but rolling some high accuracy and thincarbon steel belt. So the design and research of multi-roll mill has great practicalsignificance and application value. This paper studies a kind of12high rolling millsoverall stiffness and the deformation characteristics of frame and roll system, and exploresthe controlling of plate crown preliminarily. This is very important to the research of theroll mill’s characteristics.This paper, based on the full understanding of the mill structure, simplifies the modle,uses the large-scale finite element software MSC.Marc to establish the three dimensionalmodel which is suitable for finite element analysis and make finite element simulationwith different roll force.; according to the simulation results, sorting data, map out of thewhole mill rolling force-deformation curve which can calculate mill overall stiffness;analysis frame rolling and rolling force direction’s displacement, and the roll systemdeformation including roll between elastic flattening and the roll elastic bending;Combined with the mill overall deformation, analysis the influence between the mill eachpart deformation and the mill whole stiffness. Finally, this paper explores the controllingof plate crown preliminarily with the finite element modeling.
